Joy Kakabeeke, Certified Yoga Instructor, is a busy wife and mother who decided to take her love for Yoga and create a Yoga practice that anyone can benefit from. Joy is a graduate of Arizona State University and has a Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix. She taught high school and college mathematics for a total of 11 years in Phoenix, Arizona and then in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After the birth of her daughter, Joy retired from teaching and keeps busy with her new yoga studio and also works part time as a travel agent for Paradise Getaways.
Joy began practicing Yoga in 2005 and was initially quite surprised by the challenging postures. After about 5 or 6 classes, she really began to understand the benefits and enjoy her yoga practice more and more. Her first instructor really spent time focusing on how to do Yoga poses correctly and in proper alignment. As she continued to practice Yoga in Kalamazoo, she was so grateful for that strong foundation because it truly taught her about her body and how to avoid injury. When Joy was diagnosed with fibromyalgia she turned to Yoga to help manage her pain, increase her strength and reduce stress. She has found Yoga to be so beneficial and she wants to share this therapeutic form of exercise with others.
